Intermittent fasting is not a diet, it’s a schedule of when to eat and not to eat. They call it fasting windows and re-feeding/feeding windows. I am doing this for the month of September to crush my weight plateau and to aid me in hitting my ultimate weight goal, 55 kilos.
How I do it
I will follow the 18 hours fasting, 6 hours feeding (18/6). And it will go like this:
- 12 noon- Lunch my first meal of the day.
- 6pm-8pm- Dinner my last meal of the day. I simply must not eat exceeding 8 pm. The rest of the day from 12 noon to 8pm i can eat as many meals i like providing it’s still within my macros.
Why do it that way?
Yes am skipping breakfast. Turns out, breakfast being the healthiest meal of the day because it breaks the body’s fasting state is not entirely cool. During the fasted state we primarily use our stored glycogen for the healing & the cleansing process that takes effect. After about 8 hours from your last meal, your body shifts to fat stores for energy (provided your glycogen stores has been successfully depleted). If i skip breakfast, i get to prolong the fat utilization process along with the cleansing and healing process too! If it ain’t cool, i don’t know what is.
I am still on a keto diet. Meaning, i still am following the low carb, moderate protein, high fat diet. And am still sticking to my macros. Again, intermittent fasting is not a diet, but a schedule for eating. Thus my calorie count and my diet does not change.
While on a fasting state, i can drink water and coffee, tea and other super low calorie to zero calorie beverages. To think about it, in college i weighed 50-52 kilos, this is 8 years ago. And during those years, i ate huge amount of rice and i never gained weight or fat specially on my belly. Of course I was younger then, but hear this, i was unknowingly doing intermittent fasting for not eating breakfast! My schedule was tight and i had no time for breakfast and no budget for it too. My job starts at 6am at Mcdonald’s and my first meal of the day is at 1 pm after the lunch rush. I then have a 12:30 pm class where i am late every single day. So yes, i was doing intermittent fast all those years!
Should you do intermittent fasting too? I honestly can’t answer for you. But if you’re scared because skipping breakfast violates your principles of health, then don’t do it. I am doing this because i have done some reading, and i have, like i said earlier, done this before unknowingly and it worked great for my weight and morning energy.
Tomorrow will share my data on weight and fat percentage on September 1, 2017. We will compare the figures to my future figures by the end of September. And will see if I hit my weight and fat percentage goals. THRILL!
